Plenty for everybody at L&H 500 at the world class Phillip Island 08/09/2008: This week’s L&H 500 will feature the best in family entertainment on and off the track with new innovations that include the L&H Family Zone specifically designed as a destination for children and families. The family zone is the perfect place to let the kids play while you see all the action. The Zone features a Rock Climbing Wall, Dual Lane Bungee Run and Gladiator Challenge. It also includes free face painting and the NAB AusKick will be on-site on Friday and Saturday. There will be an opportunity to get autographs from Ford Performance Racing and Garry Rogers Motorsport drivers over the weekend. The L&H Family Zone also offers prime viewing of the on-track action into pit straight and the finish line. The event will also see the return of Students Free Friday which invites school kids the opportunity to visit the event for free with their class mates. The initiative allows students access to learn what goes on behind the scenes to run a sporting event of this magnitude and check out the V8 Supercar drivers and teams in action. On the Friday everybody gets a chance for an autograph at 11am when all 58 drivers will be at the rear of their team garages to sign posters and meet the fans. V8 Supercars’ road safety initiative V8 Supersafe will also feature on the Friday. V8 Supersafe is a young driver and road safety initiative launched by V8 Supercars Australia this year. Targeting year 10, 11 and 12 students, the program promotes a strong ‘keep control’ message with the help of Craig Lowndes, Shane Price and Shane van Gisbergen. It’s a place where you can watch the on track action from a prime viewing position, see the XXXX Angels perform, meet the XXXX GOLD Ambassador Drivers and grab a cold XXXX GOLD from one of three bars. All through the weekend the XXXX Angels will be on track with special live performances. Check out the appearance board in the Retreat for performance times. And after it’s all over at the track several Cowes businesses have set up outside dining and licensed areas. Head into Cowes and relax with fantastic food and live music. Part of Thompson Ave and The Esplanade will be closed to traffic from 5.00pm until midnight for the night time activities. Live bands will be playing from 6pm to midnight.
